2020-04-13 COVID-19 Update

United States Data πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Here is today's update regarding the spread of COVID-19 in the United States.
  • US Confirmed Cases: 567,457
  • US Confirmed Deaths: 22,828 (New Deaths: 1,393)
  • US Death Rate: 4.0%
So far in the month of April, COVID-19 has killed an average of 1,500 Americans per day. For comparison, the annual seasonal flu kills about 100 Americans per day. Automobiles kill about 95 per day. Guns kill about 110 per day.

Bad News:  The number of new daily deaths remains above 1,000. Good News: The overall US death rate remained stable at 4.0%. The five-day moving average of the cumulative case doubling period lengthened to 10.5 days.

Based on today's number of confirmed cases and the current doubling period, here are today's projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant: 
  • April 23 – 1.1 million cases
  • May 3 – 2.3 million cases
  • May 14 – 4.5 million cases
  • May 24 – 9.1 million cases
The five-day moving average of the doubling period for deaths in the United States lengthened to 5.6 days. Based on today's cumulative number of confirmed deaths and the current doubling period, here are today's projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:
  • April 19 – 46,000 deaths
  • April 26 – 91,000 deaths
  • May 3 – 183,000 deaths
  • May 10 – 365,000 deaths

  • Global Confirmed Cases: 1,889,078
  • Global Confirmed Recovered: 205,872 (10.9%)
  • Global Confirmed Deaths: 117,429
  • Global Death Rate: 6.2%
Bad News:  Good News: The global death rate remained stable at 6.2%. The five-day moving average for the global doubling period lengthened to 14.3 days.

Based on today's cases and the current doubling period, here are the projections for the world if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:
  • April 27 – 3.8 million cases
  • May 11 – 7.6 million cases
  • May 25 – 15.1 million cases
  • June 9 – 30.2 million cases

  • Georgia Cases Currently Hospitalized: 2,589 (19.4%)
  • Georgia Confirmed Deaths: 464
  • Georgia Death Rate: 3.5%
Bad News: The number of new daily deaths in Georgia exceeded 25 for the fifth time. Good News: The five-day moving average of the doubling period for new cases in Georgia lengthened to 13.9 daysThe five-day moving average of the doubling period for new deaths in Georgia lengthened to 23.2 days.

Based on today's data and the current doubling periods for confirmed cases and deaths, here are today's projections if nothing changes and the doubling period remains constant:
